Labor Shortage Of Leather And Leather Goods

Shilin Town, Huadu

Leatherwear

The development of leather goods industry began in the 70s of last century, and it has been 30 years ago.

At that time, most of the enterprises were self produced and sold, and they were sold through the railway stations near the stalls or when they were on sale.

In the 80s of last century, products began to sell to Guangzhou.

After 90s, the whole country and the world market were gradually opened up. After 2000, the leather and leather industry has become the leading industry in the town and even the Huadu District.

Shiling Town was jointly awarded the "leather goods capital of China" by the China Light Industry Federation and the China Leather Association in 2002.

"If you come to Shiling sunshine South Road at 8 o'clock in the morning, you will see three thousand or four thousand people standing on the street waiting for recruitment. They are all working on the day, and more than 9 will be dispersed."

Zhou Zeguo, executive vice president of Taizhou chamber of Commerce in Zhejiang, Guangdong, said.

"After the financial crisis, the industry did not shrink, but continued to grow. Last year, the industry grew by more than 23%, and our orders increased."

But after a week, Zhou Zeguo did not dare to answer it again.

"Our normal employment scale is three or four hundred people, with a maximum of more than 400 people, and half of the workers come from Sichuan, Hunan.

Now there are only 270-280 workers, and the gap is over 30%. "

Labor shortage

"Looking at the multiple debts of the" cheap labor era "- whether visible salary, social security, welfare, or the right to rest and the right to speak, constitute a negative effect of the" cheap labor era "seemingly fading away.

Therefore, the "labor shortage" actually reflects the "second best choice" of migrant workers under the helpless and stagnant rights and interests, which requires public decision-makers to prescribe the best remedy with greater determination and courage.

On the other hand, "labor shortage" is also shown as a structural shortage of labor. When ordinary workers can not meet the needs, workers with professional training and high quality are more scarce.

More importantly, the economic growth model that has long relied on the so-called "cheap labor" advantage, and the disadvantages such as low wages, poor welfare, social security vacancies and low labor skills, have been resisted by migrant workers whose rights consciousness is gradually increasing. This shows that the development mode of relying on cheap labor input as an important driving force for economic growth has been difficult to sustain.

Wang Jiwan, vice chairman of the China Leather Association and chairman of Qingdao Hengda Group, believes that "labor shortage" is actually "

Made in China

The labor pains before the structure is the dawn of China's economic and scientific development.

It will push the restructuring of enterprises, technological progress of enterprises, the development of corporate culture, the policy of "fixing the people" in coastal cities, and even the revival of Chinese civilization.
