According to sources, the US retail giant WAL-MART (Walmart Inc) is considering selling its unprofitable Internet menswear brand Bonobos and the Internet retro fashion brand Modcloth, and has negotiated with potential buyers.

In order to attract young consumers to cope with the pressure from Amazon, an e-commerce giant, WAL-MART acquired many Internet fashion brands including Bonobos and Modcloth in 2017. Among them, the purchase price of Bonobos is 310 million dollars, Modcloth is 50 million dollars.

According to reports, Bonobos and Modcloth failed to make profits in the past two years. Meanwhile, WAL-MART's "recent failure to improve the company's financial position" eventually led to the sale decision. Modcloth is expected to be sold this year, but WAL-MART may also choose to keep Bonobos.

According to sources, the sales volume of WAL-MART's electricity supplier sector in 2019 is expected to drop from US $22 billion to US $21 billion.

WAL-MART declined to comment on the news.

In addition to selling brands, WAL-MART announced last month that due to its failure to meet expectations, it will carry out large-scale reform of its e-commerce website Jet.com, integrate Jet.com employees into Walmart.com, and Jet.com's president, Simon Belsham, will leave.

WAL-MART bought Jet.com in 2016 at a price of 3 billion 300 million US dollars, and hopes to expand its online channels to attract young consumers. The source indicates that Jet.com failed to achieve anticipated sales and failed to help WAL-MART gain more market share.
